City swears in 4 new police officers

YOUNGSTOWN — The city police department swore in four new police officers today.

Taking the oath as patrolmen were Brandon Caraway, 26; Mark Sember, 23; Jeffrey Savnik, 27; and Chase Lempke, 24.

The four will undergo six days of in-training before being assigned a field training officer. After four months with the FTO, the new officers will be assigned a beat on their own.

The department hopes to add five more officers within a few weeks.
