Zion Lutheran Church, 10857 Main St., New Middletown, offers various methods of prayer. Many of the prayer programs are Thursdays, which Pastor Larry Klinker described as “spiritual night.” For information on activities, call the church at 330-542-3821.

Catechesis night: The Catechesis Group meets at 7 p.m. the third Thursday of the month to study the faith practice of individual prayer using the Lord’s Prayer.

Contemplative prayer: The contemplative prayer group meets at 7 p.m. the second and fourth Thursdays. Gatherings focus on one form of prayer at a time and include body, sound and silence, praying with Scripture, interior seeing (guided imagery), exterior seeing (focus on cross, candle, icon, etc.) and common prayer.

Labyrinth walks: Prayer walks on an indoor, canvas labyrinth are from 7 to 9 p.m. the second Monday of the month.

Praying with daily texts: The church offers copies of Daily Texts, a daily devotion, that are based on Lectio Divina reading of Scriptures.

Worship around the cross: Worship is planned at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of the month (next program is Feb. 5) and includes spoken liturgy, Scripture, Holy Communion, chants, vidoes and discussion. Participants are seated around a cross on the floor that is surrounded by candles.
