Family Dollar to open in Leetonia

LEETONIA

A new Family Dollar store is set to open later this month at 30 Hazel St. in downtown. The brand new building replaces the former 40-year-old IGA Foodliner, which closed Feb. 1, 2013. The 8,400-square-foot store will feature an expanded grocery section and frozen- food cases as well as other staple items. The store will be the first chain to move into the village since 1976 when the Dairy Queen Brazier opened its doors in June of that year.

Goodyear recalls 48,500 SUV tires

DETROIT

Goodyear is recalling about 48,500 SUV tires after finding small cracks in the tread during endurance testing.

The move has forced General Motors Co. to stop selling about 6,300 Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave models until the tires are replaced.

The recall covers 18-inch Fortera HL tires made from Nov. 30 through Jan. 10. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. says the problem hasn’t caused any crashes.

About 32,100 of the tires were made for the GM SUVs, which are produced at a factory near Lansing, Mich. An additional 16,400 were sold as replacement tires.

GM says the 18-inch tires are on about 30 percent of vehicles made at the plant, and the problem has not affected production.

Owners can have the tires replaced for free at any Goodyear store or authorized dealer.

Mastercard to lift ban on use in Cuba

WASHINGTON

Mastercard says it will lift the ban on U.S. credit-card transactions in Cuba beginning in March, based on new guidance from the U.S. Department of Treasury.

The announcement comes one month after President Barack Obama said the U.S. would work to restore normal diplomatic relations for the first time in more than 50 years with the communist-run island.

Mastercard Inc. said in a statement that cardholders should contact their bank before visiting Cuba to make sure their card will function on the island.
