Ash Wednesday services, Lenten events to be listed

Lent, a season of spiritual renewal, begins Ash Wednesday, Feb. 18.

Forty days is a traditional number of discipline, devotion and preparation in the Bible.

Lent also lasts for 40 days, excluding Sundays.

A listing of Ash Wednesday services and other Lenten programs will be published Feb. 14.

Deadline to submit information is 5 p.m. Feb. 11.

Interfaith tea

YOUNGSTOWN

The Islamic Society of Greater Youngstown will host the annual Women’s Interfaith Tea at 1 p.m. Feb. 3 at Masjid al-Khair, 1670 Homewood Ave. “Women in Islam: Rethinking the Issues” is the theme.

Keynote speaker will be Dr. Mustamsir Mir, professor of Islamic studies at Youngstown State University.

The event promotes understanding among religions. Women of all faiths are welcome.

Conference planned

CANFIELD

Touch Heaven Canfield Church, 10 Skyline Drive, will sponsor a Heart to Heart Conference next month.

Kathy Troccoli, speaker and singer, will share music from her new release, “Better Days,” in a concert at 7 p.m. Feb. 13. She has been involved in mission work in Africa, India and Central America.

Pastor Jo Naughton of Harvest Church, London, England, will speak during the conference that opens at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 14.

Her new book is “30-Day Detox for Your Soul.”

Registration is $15 per person.
