Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County trustees appointed Carole S. Weimer of Youngstown and Terry Dimascio of Boardman to fill the unexpired terms of board members who have retired.

Weimer replaces C. Gilbert James, whose term expires in January 2016. Dimascio replaces Clarence R. Smith, whose term expires in January 2017. Trustees also Thursday recognized a $200,000 gift toward the Canfield library branch from the James and Coralie Centofanti Charitable Foundation.

Charged with theft

BOARDMAN

A Canfield woman faces a misdemeanor theft charge after Boardman police said she took $380 worth of video games from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive. Darlene Haffner, 35, of Indian Run, was arrested Wednesday after a store employee reported to police Haffner selected 19 video games from the store and concealed them in her purse.

County buys slag

YOUNGSTOWN

Mahoning County commissioners bought 1,000 tons of heavy, anti-skid slag for $20,000 from Penn-Ohio Sealing LLC of Lowellville for snow and ice control. The commissioners’ meeting next week will be at 10 a.m. next Friday, instead of Thursday, in the county courthouse basement.
