Students at Hilltop Elementary School got a jump on celebrating the holidays during the school’s annual holiday classroom parties and caroling Dec. 23. On the last day of school before their holiday break began, students enjoyed a party in their classrooms, coordinated by PTO volunteers, during which students played games, made crafts and enjoyed a snack.

But before the parties even started, to get in the true holiday spirit, the students took part in the long-standing tradition of caroling. In the morning, each class in each grade showed off their singing skills by performing several Christmas carols in the lobby of the school, under the direction of Hilltop music teacher Tom Scurich.

To end the last day of school in 2014, the children participated in such special holiday-themed games as Christmas bingo, pin the parts on the snowman and cotton ball/snowball relay race during their parties.

Not to leave the creativity out of the parties, the children also completed crafts, including making a variety of ornaments, which were sent home with the children to be put up for the holidays.

Many students, teachers, staff and PTO volunteers also got into the spirit of the holiday and celebrated it by wearing their holiday best, including special holiday-themed clothes and accessories.
