Cincinnati Archdiocese undertakes $130 million campaign

CINCINNATI (AP) — The Archdiocese of Cincinnati has launched its largest fundraising campaign in at least fifty years with the creation of a new charitable foundation.

The hope is that the new Catholic Community Foundation will become a fundraising powerhouse helping Roman Catholic schools, priests, parishes and social services from food pantries to adoption.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports today that the foundation is a departure from the decades-long practice of running all campaigns directly through the archdiocese.

The paper says the church will still control the money but will conduct fundraising like any other private charity under the system.

The foundation will have a board of directors including lay people, priests, church leaders and Archbishop Dennis Schnurr.
