CHS swim and dive team participates at Northeast Aquatic Conference Championship

On Jan. 10, the Canfield swim and dive team travelled to Wooster High School to compete in the Northeast Aquatic Conference Championship. One record was broken at the competition - Sarah Heaven broke her own school record in the 100-yard backstroke.

The girls team took third place overall with a score of 316. Other teams participating in the championship were Wooster (426), Canton Glen Oak (351), Massillon Perry (256), Kent Roosevelt (251), Warren G. Harding (205) and Massillon Washington (159).

Top placers for the girls team were Sarah Heaven (first place in the 200 medley relay, 100 backstroke; third place in the 200 individual medley), Theresa Mikolay (first place in the 200 medley relay; second place in the 100 butterfly, 100 breaststroke), Maggie Beistel (first place in the 200 medley relay; third place in the 100 freestyle, 100 backstroke), Rachel Williams (first place in the 200 medley relay, 500 freestyle) and Carlie Oddo (third place in diving).

The Canfield boys placed second overall with a score of 387. Other teams participating in the event were Wooster (440), Canfield Glen Oak (314), Warren G. Harding (294), Massillon Perry (226), Kent Roosevelt (167) and Massillon Washington (98).

Top placers for the boys team were Connor Brady (first in the 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 400 free relay; second in the 200 medley relay), Kyle Anderson (first place in the 500 freestyle; second place in the 200 medley relay, 200 individual medley; third place in the 200 free relay), Ben Brucoli (first place in the 400 free relay; second place in the 200 medley relay; third place in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle), Alec Gaetano (first in the 400 free relay; second in the 200 freestyle; third in the 100 butterfly, 200 free relay), Matthew Bogen (first in the 400 free relay; second in the 200 medley relay, 100 breaststroke), Jared Rothbauer (second in the 500 freestyle), Kamran Sarac (third in the 200 free relay) and Cullen Brady (third in the 200 free relay).
