Students at C.H. Campbell Elementary School didn’t have to go far or deal with any traffic to do their holiday shopping thanks to the school’s PTO-sponsored Holiday Workshop Dec. 16-18. Each class was given a designated time to shop for gifts for their families, friends and even pets.

“We have a variety of items for siblings, moms, dads, grandpas, grandmas, little ones and even pets,” said Joanna White, co-chair of the Holiday Workshop, said. White co-chaired the event with Theresa Cocca.

The students made lists of who they wanted to buy for and budgeted an amount for each person.

“Making a list of people they wanted to buy for helped the children learn how to budget. Prices of the gifts range from 50 cents to $5. They are very excited to shop and want to use every dollar they have to spend,” White said.

Several PTO volunteers helped the children shop and even wrapped and labeled the gifts.

“This is our second year for the Holiday Workshop and after last year we saw how successful it was we knew it would be an annual event. The parents love to help and there is an appeal to the children of shopping independently and being able to give their family and friends a nice surprise for the holidays. Hearing the children’s reasoning behind why they bought a certain gift for a certain person is so cute,” White said.

The PTO ordered the items from Tri-C Distributors out of Akron.
