4 W.Va. schools closed as precaution after shooting

RAND, W.Va. (AP) — Kanawha County authorities say four schools have been closed after a shooting that killed a man and wounded a woman.

Cpl. Brian Humphreys of the sheriff’s office says the shooting this morning in Rand did not occur near a school, but the schools were closed as a precaution while deputies searched for the suspect.

According to media outlets, deputies responding to reports about multiple shots being fired found a vehicle flipped over. The dead man was found outside the vehicle and the wounded woman inside.

Names of the victims and the woman’s condition were not immediately available.
