Pa. mom arrested after newborn is found alive in toilet

LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) — A central Pennsylvania woman has been arrested after police say her newborn spent several minutes in a toilet.

Swanee White was charged today with endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault and recklessly endangerment.

The 19-year-old Manheim Township woman was jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail and was not available for comment.

Online court records did not list information on her lawyer.

WGAL-TV reports White’s relative found the baby in the toilet Jan. 3.

The station says the baby was treated at a hospital and has since been placed in protective custody with a county child welfare agency.
