High-speed chase in Cincy ends with crash, no serious injury

CINCINNATI (AP) — Authorities say a driver who led them on a 15-mile chase involving speeds of 100 mph or more at the end was stopped when he crashed into a guardrail in southwest Ohio.

Lt. Matt Hamilton of the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Lebanon post said there were no serious injuries in the Interstate 71 chase that began in Warren county around 8:30 this morning.

He says the man was driving above the speed limit and changing lanes without signaling when the chase began, but didn’t reach the highest speeds until after successfully avoiding stop sticks put on the highway.

The driver later lost control just north of downtown Cincinnati, crashing into the guardrail.

Hamilton says charges were expected after the man’s release from the hospital.
