Purse theft charges

NILES

A 39-year-old Warren woman was identified then charged with felony theft with the help of the viewers of the Niles Police Departments’s Facebook page.

The department posted photos of a woman who had stolen about $2,500 worth of high-end purses three days in a row last week from the Dillard’s store in Eastwood Mall.

Using the information from the public, police found Brandi N. Henderson of Phillips Drive Southwest and charged her. She was arraigned Wednesday in Niles Municipal Court, where bond was set at $2,500. She was not asked to enter a plea, and she is scheduled for another hearing at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Child-assault charges

WARREN

Bond was set Wednesday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court for a 24-year-old man and his 20 year-old girlfriend, both charged with felonious assault and felony child endangering involving injuries to a 4-year-old girl.

Police arrested Tedy Mendez II, of Laird Avenue Southeast in Warren and Western Place in Austintown two weeks ago after his daughter was treated at ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital for injuries that included bruising to both sides of her face, arms and elbows and back side.

His girlfriend, Kayla Liller, 20, of Laird Avenue Southeast, was secretly indicted Wednesday and also was arraigned Wednesday. Judge W. Wyatt McKay set bond at $250,000 for Mendez and $100,000 for Liller.

Liller posted bond and was released from the jail. Mendez remains locked up.

A Trumbull County grand jury on Wednesday handed up a superseding indictment that adds a specification necessary for the death penalty to be considered.

Honsaker is charged with aggravated murder, aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery and tampering with evidence. He’s accused of stabbing to death his 71-year-old great-uncle, Donald Giovannone in Giovannone’s home on Atlantic Street Northwest in November.
