Youngstown native tapped as Browns offensive coordinator

John DeFilippo will be the next offensive coordinator for the Browns.

After a long search that featured several candidates, coach Mike Pettine settled on DeFilippo, a league source confirmed this morning. Fox Sports' Alex Marvez was first to report the news.

The Browns had yet to make an official announcement. Kyle Shanahan resigned from the position Jan. 10 after one season.

DeFilippo, a Youngstown native, spent the last three years as Raiders quarterbacks coach. He worked with rookie Derek Carr in 2014, and Carr completed 58.1 percent with 3,270 yards, 21 touchdowns, 12 interceptions and a 76.6 rating.
