Sloppy Joes

Sloppy Joes

By Rae Hruby

1pound ground beef

1cup onion, diced

1cup green, red or yellow bell pepper, diced

1cup ketchup

2tablespoons yellow mustard

1tablespoon vinegar

1tablespoon sugar

1/2 to 1teaspoon ground cloves

Brown the ground beef and drain most of the excess fat/liquid. Add in all other ingredients. Stir to incorporate and simmer for approximately 30 minutes. Serve on a favorite roll or eat it out of the pan. I highly recommend doubling or tripling this recipe. If any is left over, it freezes well. You can adjust basically any ingredient listed to your own liking.

Top with the other piece of rye and grill until golden and crispy. Flip and grill other side. I serve the dressing on the side, but you can add 2 tablespoons to the sandwich if you prefer. I don’t like mine cooked with the sandwich. ...
