YOUNGSTOWN

City police charged a Youngstown man with cultivation of marijuana and obstructing official business after officers said he was growing suspected marijuana plants in an abandoned house.

Police said Joseph Rudolphi, 29, was in a house on Division Street about 9 p.m. Saturday.

Officers found what they believe are marijuana plants along with plant-growing equipment in the house.

Rudolphi refused to open the door when officers tried to gain entry to the house, police said.

A 25-year-old woman was also in the house when officers arrived, but she was not charged.

Pretrial hearing rescheduled

CANFIELD

A pretrial hearing has been rescheduled for a Boardman teacher who faces multiple charges stemming from an incident Nov. 29 in which law-enforcement officials said he struck another vehicle, failed to stop for an officer who tried to pull him over and then registered a blood-alcohol content more than twice the legal limit.

Andrew Wade, 37, of Canfield was scheduled to appear in Mahoning County Area Court here Tuesday, but the hearing was reset for a date that has yet to be determined.

Wade, a teacher at Glenwood Middle School, pleaded not guilty last month to misdemeanor charges of failure to comply with the order of a police officer, operating a motor vehicle impaired and hit skip.

Mahoning County Court records indicate that Wade previously was convicted on a reckless-operation charge in 2006.
