Beatitude House, in collaboration with the Mahoning-Youngstown Community Action Partnership (MYCAP), will host a Bridges Out of Poverty training seminar from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 28 at MYCAP, 1325 Fifth Ave.

Mercy Health Youngstown is offering two one-hour “Health at Home” workshops Thursday at St. Joseph Warren Hospital, 667 Eastland Ave., from 11 a.m. to noon and 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Kayla Aluise, a registered dietitian in the oncology services department at Mercy Health Youngstown, is presenting “Healthy Eating and Survivorship” at the meeting of Joanie’s Sisters in Support Sorority at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center, 1044 Belmont Ave.

Diabetes education
YOUNGSTOWN
Mercy Health Youngstown is offering diabetes education today through Thursday at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital and at Hospice House in Boardman. The three-day course, certified by the American Diabetes Association, runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m. each day at both locations.
Health care professionals who teach the course focus on the medical aspects of the disease, such as medications, glucose monitoring, exercise and complications during the first session; and meal planning, counting carbohydrates, interpreting food labels and making positive food choices during the second and third sessions.

Healthy U workshop

The Mahoning County District Board of Health is offering the “Healthy U, Chronic Disease Self-Management Program” developed by Stanford University School of Medicine.
The 2 Ω-hour small group workshop will take place once a week for six weeks beginning Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Davis YMCA in Boardman, and finishing on Feb. 28.
The program is free to anyone who has a chronic illness or lifelong condition. YMCA membership is not required, but registration is. Call 330-270-2855 ext. 109.
Financial health

As part of its monthly Lunch and Learn series, the YWCA of Youngstown, 25 W. Rayen Ave., is offering a financial recovery workshop from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday. Experts from Huntington Bank will show participants steps they can take to recover financially and rebuild their credit after experiencing a financial setback.
