Possible relationship between student, teacher investigated

CAMPBELL

A Campbell Memorial High School teacher has been placed on paid administrative leave after allegations of a possible inappropriate relationship with a student.

“Through our initial investigation, findings of evidence of violations of potential district policy and potential criminal acts were reported at the end of the school day on Friday,” a news release from the school district said.

The teacher who was placed on leave is a woman. The student involved is a minor.

Reporting agencies include Mahoning County Childrens Services, the Ohio Department of Education’s Office of Professional Conduct and city police.

“Due to the nature of the criminal investigation and the opportunity for the employee to be heard with representation, further details cannot be shared at this time,” the news release says.

The school district will cooperate with the criminal investigation and “work with the student and family to ensure his well-being,” it says.

No further information was available Monday night from the Campbell Police Department. Administrative offices were closed because of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday.
