No 2. Connecticut 92, USF 50

STORRS, CONN.

Moriah Jefferson scored 15 points and added seven assists and six rebounds and UConn claimed sole possession of first place in the American Athletic Conference. Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis led UConn (16-1, 6-0) with 18 points. Breanna Stewart had 17 points and 10 rebounds and Morgan Tuck added 15 points. Courtney Williams had 23 points for USF (14-4, 5-1), which came into the game on an eight-game winning streak and tied with the Huskies atop the conference standings. But the Bulls could not stay with the defending national champions.

No. 4 Louisville 67, Virginia 55

LOUISVILLE, KY.

Sara Hammond scored 16 of Louisville’s first 20 points and the Cardinals held off Virginia. The senior forward finished with 20 points as Louisville (17-1, 5-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) won its ninth straight and remained perfect in the conference to sit atop the ACC standings. Virginia (13-5, 3-2) trailed by five with 10 minutes left. Myisha Hines-Allen’s jumper with 2:29 remaining put the Cardinals up 61-50 to seal the win. Hines-Allen scored 15 of her 17 points in the second half. Faith Randolph led the Cavaliers with 24 points.

No. 8 Maryland 74, Illinois 54

COLLEGE PARK, MD.

Brionna Jones had a career-high 24 points with 14 rebounds, and Maryland overcame a second-half lull to beat Illinois and extend its winning streak to nine games. Shatori Walker-Kimbrough and Lexie Brown each scored 13 for the Terrapins, the lone unbeaten team in Big Ten play. Maryland (15-2, 6-0) hasn’t lost since Dec. 3, against then No. 1 Notre Dame. Since that time, the Terrapins have gone 5-0 at home and defeated three ranked teams on the road. Freshman Amarah Coleman scored a season-high 24 for Illinois (11-7, 2-4).

LSU 84, No. 10 Kentucky 79

BATON ROUGE, LA.

Danielle Ballard scored a season-high 25 points to go with five assists, and LSU posted its second-straight upset of a ranked team, beating Kentucky. The Lady Tigers (10-8, 4-2 Southeastern Conference) improved to 3-1 since Ballard, who last season averaged 10.7 points, returned after being suspended for LSU’s first 14 games for a violation of team rules. Raigyne Moncrief scored 15 points, while Sheila Boykin had 14 points and 11 rebounds for LSU.

No. 11 Texas A&M 58, Mississippi 49

COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS

Courtney Williams had 21 points and seven rebounds to help Texas A&M. Courtney Walker added 12 points, Achiri Ade had nine points and 13 rebounds and Jordan Jones finished with eight rebounds, six assists and six steals for Texas A&M (16-3, 4-1 SEC), which held Ole Miss to its lowest-scoring output of the season. The Rebels (14-5, 4-2), who had won eight of their last nine games and three in a row, led 29-27 at halftime but committed 17 turnovers and made just 1 of 8 from 3-point range in the second half. Erika Sisk paced Ole Miss with 15 points. Tia Faleru added 11 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks.

No. 12 North Carolina 78, Clemson 56

CLEMSON, S.C.

Jessica Washington scored a career-high 20 points to help North Carolina beat Clemson. The Tar Heels have won nine straight road games against Clemson dating to 1996-97. Stephanie Mavunga had 15 points for North Carolina (16-3, 3-2 ACC). Nikki Dixon made 13 of 14 free throws and finished with 17 points for Clemson (9-10, 1-5).

No. 15 Mississippi State 66, Alabama 50

STARKVILLE, MISS.

Kendra Grant and Morgan Williams came off the bench to score 17 and 12 points, respectively, to lead Mississippi State.

No. 16 Duke 68, Miami 53

DURHAM, N.C.

Elizabeth Williams scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to help Duke beat Miami. Williams moved into seventh place on Duke’s all-time scoring list with her 24th career double-double. Azura Stevens had a career-high 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds for Duke (13-5, 4-1 ACC).

No. 18 Georgia 64, Vanderbilt 53

ATHENS, GA.

Shacobia Barbee scored 14 points with 11 rebounds and Georgia held off Vanderbilt. Georgia (16-3, 4-2 SEC) led by one early in the second half when the Bulldogs went on a 13-4 run — including seven points from Barbee — lifting the lead to 10 with 3:33 remaining and Vandy didn’t have a late run in them. Krista Donald scored 13 points with seven boards.

No. 20 Florida State 59, Virginia Tech 44

BLACKSBURG, VA.

Shakayla Thomas scored 19 points, Maegan Conwright added 12 including three 3-pointers and Florida State cruised to a win over Virginia Tech.

No. 22 Iowa 52, Michigan State 50

EAST LANSING, MICH.

Samantha Logic and Melissa Dixon scored 13 points apiece and Iowa survived a shaky and wild finish to beat Michigan State. The Spartans kept the high-powered Hawkeye offense (79.8 points a game) in check but couldn’t come up with a final key play down the stretch.

MINNEAPOLIS

Carile Wagner’s jumper with 37 seconds left lifted Minnesota over Indiana. Wagner’s 3 with 1:18 left in the game gave Minnesota a 60-59 lead. Indiana’s Jenn Anderson responded with a jumper with 55 seconds, but Minnesota’s Mikayla Bailey made a steal and on the possession, Wagner’s jumper put the Gophers in the lead for good.

No. 24 Rutgers 73, Wisconsin 63

MADISON, WIS.

Cynthia Hernandez scored 17 points to lead five Rutgers players in double figures as the Scarlet Knights beat Wisconsin. Kahleah Copper had 14 points and Betnijah Laney recorded her 12th double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds for Rutgers (13-5, 4-3 Big 10). Rachel Hollivay added 11 points and Tyler Scaife 10. A 3-pointer by Jacki Gulczynski and a layup by Dakota Whyte pulled the Badgers (7-10, 3-4) within one with 12:12 to play, but Hernandez and Syessence Davis hit back-to-back 3’s to spark a 19-6 run.

No. 25 Syracuse 64, Boston College 46

BOSTON

Reserves Taylor Ford and Diamond Henderson combined for 24 points in the second half as Syracuse pulled away from Boston College. Ford finished with 15 points and Henderson 13 for the Orange (13-5, 3-2 ACC), with Alexis Peterson adding 11 with six assists and Bria Day grabbing 11 rebounds. Kelly Hughes, the leading scorer for Boston College (8-10, 0-5) at 15 points a game, was held to three.
