Right to Life plans downtown vigil

Mahoning County Right to Life is hosting a prayer vigil at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Thomas D. Lambros Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse, 125 Market St.

This event is in conjunction with the national March for Life in Washington, D.C., over the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision on Jan. 22, 1973, which legalized abortion.

The prayer vigil takes place annually to raise awareness of the abortion issue.

McKinley Club plans 100th annual banquet

The Mahoning Valley McKinley Club will have its 100th Annual McKinley Banquet at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 29 in the McKinley Memorial Auditorium.

The banquet has taken place 100 years to celebrate the birthday of President William McKinley, who was born in Niles. Keynote speaker is U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson of Marietta, R-6th. Tickets are $30, and seating is limited.
