Richard Scarsella and Debra Mettee of Boardman, the parents of Natalie Scarsella of New Albany, Ohio, are announcing her engagement to Alex Friend, son of James and Jill Friend, all of New Albany.

The couple have planned their summer wedding for the afternoon of July 25 at St. Charles Church. A reception will follow at The Lake Club in Poland. Invitations will be issued for both events.

The bride-to-be earned bachelor’s degrees in Spanish and education from the University of Toledo. She is employed as a Spanish teacher for Canal Winchester Schools in Canal Winchester, Ohio.

The prospective groom, also a University of Toledo graduate, earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental science. He is employed as a claims adjuster for Nationwide Insurance in Columbus.
