Man arrested in stabbing death of Ohio woman, 60, in wheelchair today

Police say a man accused of fatally stabbing a woman in a wheelchair has been charged with murder and assault in southwestern Ohio.

Cincinnati police say 21-year-old Andrew Kimbrough fatally stabbed 60-year-old Patricia Hummons today. Police said they found Hummons dead near a sidewalk when they arrived at the scene shortly before 11 a.m.

Police say Kimbrough attacked Hummons with a knife and then attacked a “good Samaritan” who tried to intervene. Police say that person managed to get the knife away from Kimbrough and both were stabbed in the struggle. They were taken to a hospital for treatment. Their conditions weren’t immediately released.

Authorities didn’t suggest any motive. It wasn’t immediately clear whether Kimbrough had an attorney.

Police didn’t identify the person they say tried to help Hummons.
