‘Arcadia’ to be topic of discussion group

SALEM

Salem Public Library Adult Book Discussion Group will meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 27 in the Quaker Room, 821 E. State St., to discuss “Arcadia” by Lauren Groff.

In the late 1960s, a group of idealists set about to create a commune to live off the land. The site they chose in western New York state was Arcadia House and the grounds surrounding the ramshackle house.

The novel tells the story of this utopian dream come to life through the day-to-day interactions of its diverse group of inhabitants and the effect the community had on a young man, Bit.

Copies of the book may be borrowed from the library or through the Ohio Digital Library, which may be accessed through the library’s website at www.salem.lib.oh.us.

Read or listen via audiobook to this story, and share your insights and reactions at the discussion, which is open to the public. Registration is not required.

The discussion group meets the fourth Tuesday of each month. Call the library at 330-332-0042 for information.
