Car hits bridal store
POLAND
An 84-year-old Lowellville woman lost control of her vehicle and struck a building in the middle of the village Friday afternoon, police said. She was driving south on state Route 170 when she lost control, clipped another vehicle and then accelerated and hit Jacqueline’s Bridal, 14 N. Main St., village Police Chief Russell Beatty Jr. said.
Beatty said it is unclear what caused the woman to lose control. Police were unable to get information from her after the accident because of her condition. She was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital for her injuries.
No one in the other car was injured, Beatty said. The accident caused damage to the bridal shop’s sign and porch, he said.

Dominion East Ohio gas responded to the roadway in front of 717 Credit Union on Youngstown-Kingsville Road (state Route 193) near state Route (new) 82 for a natural-gas leak Friday afternoon that resulted in evacuation of the credit union, Trumbull County 911 reported. Sewerline workers were nearby and detected a gas odor and called 911 at 2:39 p.m. The leak brought firefighters and others to the scene to help with traffic control. Man gets probation
WARREN
Michael Kollat, 21, of Risher Road was sentenced to five years’ probation Thursday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court after pleading guilty to one count of compelling prostitution and one count of promoting prostitution.
Prosecutors said Kollat prostituted a 17-year-old female at motels in the Warren-Howland and Niles areas during 2014.
The female, now 18, told Judge Ronald Rice she is Kollat’s girlfriend, that she is not a victim and asked that Kollat not go to prison. Prosecutors, conversely, asked for Kollat to get prison time.
A drug investigation by the Trumbull Ashtabula Group Law Enforcement Task Force uncovered the criminal activity, and TAG filed the charges.
