A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

HUBBARD

Jan. 7

Recovered property: A woman who recently moved into a residence in the 20 block of Roosevelt Drive found a .22-caliber rifle and an archery set that apparently belonged to the previous tenants.

Arrest: Police responded to a report of an unwanted person on Mock Street, where they arrested 38-year-old John A. Chiodo of Elmwood Drive, Hubbard. He was wanted on a warrant charging failure to comply with a court order.

Jan. 9

Arrest: Officers answered a call near West Liberty Street regarding a motorist who had driven off the road before charging Jerome E. Carter, 27, with operating a vehicle impaired and obstructing official business. At one point, Carter, of Nelson Avenue, Youngstown, turned up his car stereo so as not to hear the officer’s commands, thus impeding the investigation, a report showed.

Arrest: Authorities were dispatched to Girard Municipal Court to take 22-year-old Steven T. Kerschner of South Mercer Street, Greenville, Pa., to the Trumbull County jail. Kerschner was wanted on a probation-violation charge.

Jan. 10

Harassment: A Hubbard man reported a Hubbard boy has been harassing his 17-year-old daughter via Facebook posts.

LIBERTY

Jan. 9

Arrest: A traffic stop near Euclid Boulevard led to 49-year-old James S. Young’s arrest. Young, of Boardman-Canfield Road, Boardman, was charged with failure to appear in court.

Theft: An employee for a Belmont Avenue business reported an electronic tablet and a notebook stolen from his vehicle while at work.

Arrest: Police at the Mahoning County jail arrested Derrick G. McIntosh, 46, of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Youngstown, on an outstanding Girard Municipal Court warrant.

Jan. 10

Fraud: A Youngstown man learned that someone without authorization had used his check card to make fraudulent purchases and withdraw money from an automated-teller machine at the accuser’s Belmont Avenue bank. The loss came to about $6,000.

Jan. 11

Drugs: Matthew R. Lucas, 32, was charged with possession of drug-abuse instruments during a traffic stop in the Liberty Plaza after police alleged that Lucas, of Slagle Road, Garrettsville, had a syringe in his sock.

Arrest: A traffic stop near Goldie Road resulted in charges of failure to comply with police and having no operator’s license against James M. Muldrow, 21, of Trumbull Court, Liberty. Muldrow ignored officers when they tried to pull him over, then fled on foot before being taken into custody in a nearby apartment, a report stated.

Drugs: Officers on state Route 193 pulled over and charged 26-year-old Fabian Whitted Jr. of Kris Drive, Girard, with drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia. A police dog led to the discovery of 3 grams of suspected marijuana in a paper towel and a suspected marijuana pipe, authorities said.

Jan. 12

Theft: A man reported a Sony PlayStation 3 system and a laptop computer stolen from his Trumbull Court apartment.

Jan. 13

Arrest: Police picked up 22-year-old Jordan A. Burnett of Helena Avenue, Youngstown, who was accused of failing to appear in court.

Criminal damaging: An Oriel-Rogers Road man noticed a damaged storm-door window to his home.

Stolen property: Police assisting with an investigation at Cleveland Auto Wrecking Co. Inc., 2700 Youngstown-Hubbard Road, charged Gerald W. Kay II, 40, of Ridge Road, Cortland, with identity fraud and receiving stolen property, as well as 46-year-old Antonio Hawthorne of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Youngstown, with receiving stolen property. Kay and Hawthorne, both of whom also were wanted on warrants, brought a stolen steel plate to the business to receive payment, a report showed.

GIRARD

Jan. 10

Possible scam: A Morris Avenue woman reported having received a suspicious text message that police thought might have been a scam.

Jan. 11

Weapon: Authorities responded to a possibly suicidal person near Market and Liberty streets, where they took into custody 22-year-old Justin B. Tackach of Bianco Avenue, Niles, on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon. Tackach, who police said had a knife, also was wanted on a warrant charging theft and failure to comply with a court order.

Theft: A man in the 400 block of North State Street noticed a gym bag and medications missing from his car.

Jan. 13

Breaking and entering: A Powers Way woman discovered a $250 snow blower missing from her garage.

Menacing: A Crumlin Avenue woman said her former boyfriend has made and sent numerous such calls and text messages to her, and that he has driven by the accuser’s residence and visited her place of employment.
