Gas leak briefly evacuates homes in Canfield

CANFIELD

Some residents were evacuated from their homes after a gas leak in the area, Canfield Fire Chief Don Hutchison said.

Firefighters responded to Shields Road between state Route 46 and Raccoon Road about 11:15 a.m. Friday after a gas valve blew. Parts of Shields and Revere Run were shut down and residents within a half-mile radius of the leak were evacuated, Hutchison said.

The fire department cleared the scene about 11:50 a.m., and residents are now back in their houses, he said. Dominion East Ohio crews are fixing the leak, Hutchison said.

There were no reported injuries.
