CHS swim faces off with Austintown and Alliance


The Canfield girls varsity swim team defeated Alliance and Austintown Fitch on Jan. 6. The Canfield girls scored 166 points, while Alliance scored 96 points and Austintown Fitch scored 16 points.

Top swimmers for Canfield include Sarah Heaven (first in the 200 medley relay, 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 400 free relay), Theresa Mikolay (first in the 200 medley relay, 100 freestyle, 200 free relay, 100 breaststroke), Maggie Beistel (first in the 200 medley relay, 200 individual medley, 100 backstroke, 400 free relay), Zoe DiDomenico (first in the 200 free relay, 400 free relay; second in the 200 freestyle; third in the 50 freestyle), Morgan Weiss (first in the 300 free relay; second in the 200 medley relay, 100 breaststroke; third in the 500 freestyle), Rachel Williams (first in the 200 medley relay, 500 freestyle, 400 free relay), Carlie Oddo (first place in diving; third in the 200 free relay, 400 free relay), Ally McCartney (second in the 200 medley relay, 200 individual medley; third in the 200 free relay), Lauren Grimm (third in the 200 freestyle, 200 free relay, 400 free relay), Marissa Marzano (first in the 200 free relay, second in the 200 medley relay), Maddie Remby (second in the 200 medley relay, third in the 400 free relay) and Maggie Brucoli (third in the 200 free relay, 400 free relay).

The Canfield boys varsity swim team also defeated Alliance and Austintown Fitch. The Canfield boys scored 152 points, while Alliance scored 77 points and Austintown Fitch scored 57 points.

Top swimmers for the boys team included Matthew Bogen (first in the 200 medley relay, 50 freestyle, 500 freestyle, 400 free relay), Connor Brady (first in the 200 medley relay, 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 400 free relay), Kyle Anderson (first in the 200 medley relay, 200 free relay, 100 breaststroke; second in the 200 individual medley), Alec Gaetano (first in the 200 free relay, 400 free relay; second in the 200 medley relay, 100 butterfly), Kamran Sarac (first in the 200 free relay; second in the 200 medley relay, 50 freestyle, 400 free relay), Cullen Brady (first in the 200 free relay; second in the 100 freestyle, 400 free relay; third in the 200 individual medley), Ben Brucoli (first in the 200 medley relay, 100 freestyle, 400 free relay), Jared Rothbauer (second in the 200 medley relay, 500 freestyle, 400 free relay) and Lake Bennett (second in the 200 medley relay, 400 free relay).
