Beatitude House, in collaboration with Mahoning- Youngstown Community Action Partnership, will host a Bridges Out of Poverty training seminar from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 28 at MYCAP office, 1325 Fifth Ave.

Presenters are certified trainers Patti Matthews-Wanat of Work Life Solutions and Penny Sendak, past director of OnTasc.

Registration is at 8:30 a.m. Refreshments will be available, but attendees should bring their own lunch. The cost is $99, which includes the training and the Bridges manual.

Set goals for schools

The Brookfield School District’s Leadership Team is conducting a survey about the school district to help in setting goals for the schools.

Visit the district Web page at www.brookfield.k12.oh.us/ and click on the link that says District Survey. You also can contact the superintendent’s office and a survey will be mailed to you along with a pre-paid envelope for you to mail it back. A paper copy is available at all school offices and will be available at all district events. The survey will be open until Feb. 6.

$20K grant for YWCA

YOUNGSTOWN

The YWCA of Youngstown has received a $20,000 grant from the Ohio Capital Impact Corp. The award was made through the Huntington Wellness Initiative, a partnership between Ohio Capital Corp. for Housing and Huntington Bank.

The funds will be used to increase the quality of life and wellness for the residents at the YWCA Apartments on West Rayen Avenue by providing an increased awareness of healthy lifestyles.

The YWCA provides a home for homeless, low-income, single women with or without children.
