Toastmasters plan speech contest

On Monday, Executive 408 Toastmasters Youngstown, a local branch of Toastmasters International, will host its International Speech and Evaluation Club Contest from 6:45 to 8:45 p.m. at the Summitville Tile Building, 621 Boardman-Canfield Road. The contest is free and open to the public.

For the International Speech contest, each person prepares a five-to-seven-minute speech ahead of time and presents it to the audience.

The Evaluation contest involves critical thinking and speaking skills. Each contestant has five minutes to prepare a two-to-three-minute evaluation to present to a volunteer speaker.

Audubon Society offers program

Audubon Society Mahoning Valley invites the public to learn about bird identification with President Jeff Harvey from 7 to 8 p.m. Jan. 27 at the Mill Creek MetroParks Farm, 7574 Columbiana Canfield Road.

Take binoculars and field guides. Prizes will be awarded for tough identification challenges.
