A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Jan. 5

Animal complaint: A Beechwood Drive man filed a barking-dog complaint.

Jan. 7

Identity fraud: A Sturbridge Place man discovered his stolen debit card had been used without authorization.

Jan. 8

Criminal mischief/theft: A vehicle at a Center Road store sustained damage to a driver’s-side window. Stolen was $2.

BOARDMAN

Jan. 8

Theft: Kelly M. Dezee, 28, of Evelyn Road, Youngstown, was charged with stealing roughly $93 worth of merchandise, including baby items, from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Domestic violence: Cassaundra P. Covey, 21, of West Boulevard, Boardman, was charged with the crime after her fianc alleged an intoxicated Covey punched and choked him as he tried to restrain her after she allegedly had struck another person.

Theft: A Youngstown woman reported an envelope containing about $100 missing from her vehicle while in the 600 block of East Midlothian Boulevard.

Theft: A 14-year-old Youngstown girl was accused in the theft of about $39 worth of jewelry from Walmart.

Jan. 9

Aggravated menacing: Officers on Eisenhower Drive took into custody Sarah E. Ciapala, 18, of Chestnut Lane, Boardman, who was wanted on an aggravated-menacing charge.

Arrest: Authorities received an alert regarding a possibly intoxicated motorist before conducting a traffic stop near Meadowbrook Avenue and charging 38-year-old Kristopher J. Hartman with operating a vehicle impaired. Hartman, of Garfield Street, Struthers, had a blood-alcohol count of 0.226, nearly three times the legal limit, a report showed.

Criminal damaging: A car in the 6000 block of Applecrest Court was found with two slashed tires.

Harassment: A Euclid Boulevard woman told officers she has been harassed via phone and social-media websites.

Aggravated menacing: Jeffrey E. Bresnahan, 46, of Fox Chase Court, Austintown, surrendered on an aggravated-menacing charge after employees with a Doral Drive shoe store alleged Bresnahan had threatened to blow up the business when he became angered about a procedure pertaining to a $38 return to his account.

Domestic violence: Authorities picked up Maurice H. Hasley, 26, after an Oct. 17, 2014, situation in which a Huntington Drive woman alleged Hasley, of Oak Hill Avenue, Youngstown, had threatened the accuser while she was at work.

Harassment: A Prestwick Drive man said a woman has made such calls and sent profane text messages to him.

Theft: Police charged Jason R. Henninger of Canfield Road, Youngstown, after accusing the 36-year-old man of stealing around $54 worth of groceries from Marc’s, 7121 Tiffany Blvd.

Jan. 10

Theft: A woman reported her $470 iPhone stolen while at a business in the 6500 block of South Avenue.

Theft: A Canfield man at a U.S. Route 224 fitness center noticed his $650 cellphone missing.

Domestic violence: Blake M. Valentin, 20, of Fourth Street, Struthers, was charged after a woman alleged that while at Akron Children’s Hospital, 6505 Market St., Valentin had punched her stomach during an argument pertaining to personal matters.

Harassment: A worker for a Boardman-Canfield restaurant reported having gotten numerous unwanted calls and text messages.

Theft: An employee with a Southern Park Mall business realized her purse had been stolen from a desk while she was at work.

Theft: Police charged Drake R. Dibacco, 36, of Palo Verde Drive, Poland, and 33-year-old Dena L. Milanowski of Garden Valley Court, Boardman, in the theft of clothing, including a Cleveland Browns jersey, from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall.

Jan. 11

Citation: Police responded to a report of a woman possibly passed out in a vehicle on South Avenue before citing 53-year-old Jolie J. Paul of Southern Boulevard, Boardman, on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired.

Criminal damaging: A car’s fuel cap was damaged in the 1900 block of Mathews Road.

Jan. 12

Arrest: Police arrested a 16-year-old student at Boardman High School, 7777 Glenwood Ave., and charged him with pandering obscenity involving a minor, a second-degree felony, and menacing, a misdemeanor. An investigation revealed the teen had nude and partially nude photographs of a juvenile on his cellphone, and that he had threatened to harm her, authorities alleged.

Theft: Two firearms were taken from a home in the 20 block of Sciota Avenue.

Theft: A Boardman-Canfield Road woman reported a wallet stolen from her residence.

Theft: Chase A. McKinney, 18, of Rhoda Avenue, Youngstown, along with a 17-year-old Austintown boy, was charged with stealing two polo shirts from Macy’s.

Menacing: A Poland woman told police that while at a Boardman-Poland Road cafe, a man continually asked her unwanted personal questions and tried to encourage her to date him, despite the accuser’s insistence she was not interested. The woman also received a bouquet of flowers at her place of employment the next day.

Recovered property: A 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer vehicle was found after it had been reported stolen in the 4200 block of Chester Drive.

Harassment: An Allen Drive man said he received seven unwanted calls and found a harassing note on his front door.

Theft: Someone in the 100 block of Jennette Drive removed $25 from a car.

Theft: Authorities at the Mahoning County jail booked 46-year-old Frankie W. Dowdell of Akron on a theft charge related to a July 23, 2014, shoplifting situation at T.J. Maxx, 717 Boardman-Poland Road, in which three shirts valued at $105 were stolen.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Warren man told officers a woman took his 2000 Ford F-250 truck without permission after he had dropped it off at an auto-repair business in the 4100 block of Simon Road.

Jan. 13

Arrest: A traffic stop near Indianola Road led to charges of operating a vehicle impaired and obstructing official business against 48-year-old Frank M. Hunt after police alleged Hunt, of Market Street, North Lima, also had provided false personal information.
