State officials probe fire that kills man

The State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating a Monday fire that killed a 65-year-old man.

Firefighters found the body of Joe Smitha about 6 feet from the door of his trailer in Center Township.

They were called about 11 a.m. to the home on Hilltop Drive.

No one else lived in the trailer which was a total loss at about $8,500, said Lisbon Fire Chief David Lewton.

Lewton said the origin of the blaze couldn’t be determined, but it isn’t considered suspicious.
