WWII veteran will share stories

CANFIELD

Guest speaker at the World War II Heritage Society for its 6:30 p.m. meeting Monday at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St., will be William L. Davis, veteran of the European Theater in World War II.

He will recount his experiences of breaching the Siegfried Line, eventually advancing to the Danube River, and his postwar occupation duty.

Reservations can be made by calling David Frank at 330-757-0515 or 330-533-6737. The cost of the dinner meeting is $14 per person, and the deadline for reservations is Friday.

Battle of the Bulge will be speech topic

LEETONIA

Leetonia Community Public Library, 181 Walnut St., will present a program about the Battle of the Bulge by Paul Rohrbaugh at 6 p.m. Thursday.

This is the first of a series of three talks on World War II this year. All programs are free and open to the public; no registration is needed.

Rotary trustees meet to reorganize

SALEM

Trustees of the Salem Rotary Foundation met Jan. 6 to reorganize. They welcomed Mark C. Flake IV and Frank A. Zamarelli Jr., returning as trustees for a three-year term.

Flake and Zamarelli join Atty. Geoffrey S. Goll, George W.S. Hays, Shelby Mingus, Alma Apicella and Dr. Peter Apicella as trustees.

Officers elected to the foundation for the 2015-2016 year were Hays, president; Mingus, vice president; Zamarelli Jr., treasurer, and Goll, secretary.

Trustees plan to celebrate the foundation’s 20th anniversary this year and hope to increase its net assets for the festivities.
