AUSTINTOWN

Two people used four counterfeit $100 bills Saturday night at Walmart, 6001 Mahoning Ave., police said.

A male and a female each used two of the bills on purchases of $107.97 and $108.98, respectively. The first purchase was at 6:56 p.m. Saturday, and the second purchase was just after the first at 6:58 p.m. Walmart officials called police at 10:26 p.m. Saturday after discovering the bills were fake.

Surveillance video of the purchases was provided to detectives.

Menacing charge

BOARDMAN

An Austintown man faces a charge of aggravated menacing after police said he threatened to blow up a township business.

Police say Jeffrey Bresnahan, 46, of Fox Chase Court, threatened employees at Designer Shoe Warehouse, 1280 Doral Drive, last Tuesday after an employee told Bresnahan that it would take a few days for a return to be processed.

Police responded to a 911 call after Bresnahan reportedly made a return, left the store and sat in his car, and then returned and said, “If my money doesn’t make it back to my account I’m gonna come in here guns blazing. That’s right, guns blazing. I’m gonna blow this place up.”

Bresnahan turned himself in to township police Friday. He was released on a summons and is scheduled to be in Mahoning County Area Court here today.
