First quarter
8:33 p.m. — Oregon wins the toss and elects to receive to start the game. Ohio State will get the ball to begin the second half.
8:43 p.m. — Oregon goes 75 yards on 11 plays in 2:39 to take an early 7-0 lead over Ohio State. Ducks quarterback Marcus Mariota fumbled, but the ball came out after his knee was down. Buckeyes offense set to take the field for their first drive.
9:07 p.m. — Ohio State goes for it on 4th-and-3 from the 35 and converts. Two plays later, Buckeyes' Ezekiel Elliott runs it in from 33 yards out to cap off a 10 play, 97-yard drive. Game tied 7-7 late in the first quarter.
9:18 p.m. — A pass interference call on Youngstown-native Troy Hill leads to another Ohio State touchdown. The Buckeyes' offense is looking good, while the Ducks have struggled with drops since their opening drive.
Second quarter
9:38 p.m. — Buckeyes defense stops the Ducks on the goal line on 4th down. Play of the game early on, after Cardale Jones and Elliott botch a handoff for the game's first turnover.
9:57 p.m. — Hill causes the second turnover of the game, but Ohio State's defense has Oregon out of rhythm. Buckeyes take advantage of a short field to take a two-score lead over the Ducks. Jones hits on a deep pass to Smith and then keeps it himself for a 1-yard touchdown run.
10:16 p.m. — Ducks get an important field goal before the end of the half to cut into Buckeyes' lead. Oregon leads in time of possession (15:23 to 14:28) and turnover margin (2-0), but trail on the scoreboard by double-digits.
Third quarter
10:54 p.m. — Ohio State gives up the ball on its first drive of the second half. Ducks waste no time capitalizing with a 70-yard touchdown strike from Mariota to Byron Marshall. We've got ourselves a ball game again.
11:07 p.m. — Jones fumbles away the football for the Buckeyes' fourth turnover of the game. But again the defense holds the Ducks to a field goal. Ohio State treading water right now, still leading by a point. If Oregon goes ahead, could be dangerous for Bucks.
11:20 p.m. — Ohio State decides to keep the ball on the ground with Jones and Elliott. Turns out to be a wise decision, as Jones runs over a defensive lineman and Elliott caps off the drive with his second touchdown of the game. He also went over 200 rushing yards on the final play of the third quarter.
Fourth quarter
11:35 p.m. — Elliott cannot be stopped. He punches in his third touchdown of the game, giving the Buckeyes some breathing room. Also, Ohio State has been money on third down tonight going 8 of 13. They're also 3 of 3 on fourth down. Buckeyes can taste it.
12:11 p.m. — The Ohio State Buckeyes are the 2015 national champions. Elliott scored his fourth touchdown of the night to run up the score.
