Counterfeit bills passed at Walmart in Austintown

AUSTINTOWN — Two people used four counterfeit $100 bills Saturday night at Walmart, 6001 Mahoning Ave., police said.

A male and a female both used two of the bills on purchases of $107.97 and $108.98, respectively. The first purchase was 6:56 p.m. Saturday and the second purchase was just after the first at 6:58 p.m. Walmart officials called police at 10:26 p.m. Saturday after discovering the bills were phony.

Surveillance video of the purchases was provided to detectives.
