Youngstown cops looking for witness in pedestrian death

Police are seeking witnesses to the accident Tuesday evening that killed a pedestrian on the South Side.

In addition to a man and woman who police already said they were looking for, who were in a dark- colored Pontiac or Buick that stopped, investigators also are seeking a person who witnesses said was walking in the area when the accident happened.

Killed was 50-year-old Michelle Anne Bland, who was struck by a truck from the city’s wastewater department about 6 p.m.

Police say she was walking north almost in the middle of the road on Gibson Street approaching Mabel Avenue when she was struck from behind by the truck.

The Mahoning County Coroner’s office said Bland was killed by severe blunt- force trauma to the head.
