POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:
HUBBARD
Dec. 31
Arrest: A traffic stop on East Liberty Street resulted in the arrest of 23-year-old Robert L. Taylor III of Fairview Drive, Youngstown, on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired. Taylor’s blood-alcohol count was 0.176, more than twice the legal limit, a report showed.
Jan. 2
Theft: An employer with a North Main Street coffee shop alleged a worker has been stealing money from the business and from an Ohio Lottery machine after having noticed amounts in a drawer were consistently short.
Jan. 3
Assault: The owner of a business in the 400 block of North Main Street alleged a Hubbard man, 44, grabbed his throat and pushed the accuser against a wall during a confrontation pertaining to a parking space.
Menacing: A caregiver for an elderly Forest Hill Drive woman told police the client attempted to assault the accuser regarding how a load of laundry had been done.
Jan. 4
Animal complaint: A Bedford Road woman reported a neighbor’s dog has been defecating on her property, causing damage to her yard.
Arrest: While responding to a report about a runaway juvenile, police charged a Hubbard boy, 17, with obstructing official business after saying he also fled from officers.
Burglary/criminal damaging: Someone entered a residence in the 100 block of South Main Street through the rear, damaged a mattress, sheets and blankets and stole several candy bars.
Jan. 5
Breaking and entering: Police arrived at Carano’s Barber Shop, 22 S. Main St., and noticed a rear basement door open and water running from what appeared to be a pressure-release valve attached to a water heater. During that investigation, officers also found a large rock thought to have been used to break a window and enter a vacant property next door.
Theft: A school crossing guard reported a hand-held stop sign stolen while in the 400 block of West Liberty Street.
LIBERTY
Dec. 31
Arrest: Police answered a shoplifting call from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road, where they arrested 54-year-old Bruce J. Eley of Columbus on a Girard Municipal Court warrant.
Identity fraud: After being contacted to repay a $5,000 loan, a Kingwood Lane man learned someone had used his personal information without consent to apply for a loan online.
Arrest: Brookfield police relinquished custody of Julie Gould of South Park Road, Brookfield, to township authorities. The 31-year-old Gould was accused of failing to appear in court to face a theft charge.
Breaking and entering: Someone entered a shed in the 10 block of Shady Lane and left with a $13,000 all-terrain vehicle.
Drugs: An employee with a Belmont Avenue big-box store found a plastic wrapper near the entrance that contained what appeared to be rocks of suspected crack cocaine.
Breaking and entering: A residence in the 3000 block of Green Acres Drive was broken into and an estimated $16,000 worth of copper was removed from walls and heaters, then stolen.
Jan. 1
Arrest: Police arrested Timesha Nuby, 21, of Tyrell Street, Youngstown, after having been pulled over in the 4200 block of Belmont Avenue. Nuby was wanted on a township warrant and was charged with having no operator’s license.
Arrest: While responding to a possible theft at Walmart, police arrested 22-year-old Sha-layah M. Harris on a charge of obstructing official business after saying Harris, of Parkcliff Avenue, Youngstown, provided a false name and date of birth. A theft charge was pending.
Arrest: Officers responded to a complaint of an unwanted person at a Murray Hill Drive residence before taking 33-year-old Jennifer Hallums into custody on a disorderly-conduct charge. The North Olmsted, Ohio, woman continually swore and screamed at officers after having caused an earlier scene during a party at the home, a report stated.
Jan. 2
Arrest: Police on Belmont Avenue pulled over and took into custody 35-year-old Jason A. Johns of East Dewey Avenue, Youngstown, who was wanted on city warrants. He also was charged with driving under suspension.
Harassment: A Breezeknoll Drive man said a woman has been making such calls to him.
Theft: A Warner Road woman reported a debit card missing, as well as two unauthorized transactions totaling $64.
Arrest: Police arrested Tabitha S. Lee, 27, of East Boston Avenue, Youngstown, at the Mahoning County jail. She was wanted on two Girard Municipal Court warrants.
Arrest: Authorities picked up 23-year-old Antwan Woodbridge in downtown Youngstown. Woodbridge, of East Auburndale Avenue, Youngstown, was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant.
Jan. 4
Burglary: To an apartment in the 2900 block of Roosevelt Drive through a window. A $200 cellphone was seized.
Criminal damaging: A Secrist Lane man alleged a 23-year-old friend threw several logs at and damaged the accuser’s pickup truck during a confrontation between them.
Theft: Several touch-screen car stereos and a subwoofer were removed from a vehicle in the 1700 block of Church Hill Road, for a loss of $1,653.
Jan. 5
Arrest: Police at the Mahoning County jail arrested 23-year-old Christopher Rios of Fifth Avenue, Youngstown. He was wanted on a warrant charging failure to appear in court.
Arrest: Beaver Township police handed 32-year-old Natalie R. Dillion to Liberty authorities. Dillion, of Union Ridge Road, Negley, was wanted on an outstanding Girard Municipal Court warrant.
Breaking and entering: Someone entered a vacant home in the 3500 block of Cardinal Drive and removed $1,500 worth of copper pipes from the basement.
Jan. 6
Arrest: A traffic stop on state Route 193 resulted in the arrest of 49-year-old James S. Young of Boardman-Canfield Road, Boardman, who was wanted on a warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court on a charge of passing bad checks.
Arrest: Police responded to a report of an unwanted person at a Motor Inn Drive motel, where they took into custody Jennifer A. Digiantonio, 28, of Cleveland, who was wanted on a Canfield warrant.
Identity fraud: After a Youngstown man’s debit-card transaction was denied, he learned that someone had made three unauthorized purchases with it at a business in the 3100 block of Belmont Avenue.
GIRARD
Jan. 4
Arrest: Niles police handed 29-year-old Sharika R. Armstrong of Warren to Girard authorities. She was wanted on a charge of failure to appear in court.
Assault: Officers responded to a possible fight in the 800 block of North Highland Avenue, where they encountered a woman who appeared to have severe facial injuries.
Theft: Various painting tools were taken from a car in the 400 block of East Liberty Street.
Theft: A cellphone, an electronic tablet, a global-positioning-system unit and other items were removed from vehicles in the 400 block of East Liberty Street.
Theft: Someone in the 300 block of East Howard Street entered a car before stealing a $300 pair of diamond earrings.
Jan. 5
Harassment: A North Ward Avenue man said he’s received a series of unsolicited calls.
Jan. 6
Assault: A 10-year-old Girard boy reported having been punched in the face and pushed during an altercation on a school bus near Ella Street.
