Critically hurt man left in towed car for 6 hours
DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — A southwest Ohio sheriff’s office is investigating how a critically injured man was left inside a vehicle for six hours after it was towed from a crash scene in suburban Dayton on New Year’s Day.
The Dayton Daily News reports a worker preparing to take the vehicle off a flatbed truck found the man screaming for help.
Montgomery County sheriff’s Capt. Jeremy Roy says the man was in stable condition Thursday, a week after the crash in Harrison Township.
Roy says the office is investigating whether deputies followed policy, which includes taking an inventory of the inside of the car after such a crash. They’re checking whether the man might have returned to the car once it was checked, though Roy doubts that because the man had severe injuries.
