People who need a warm place to stay during the frigid weather can call 211 to reach Help Hot Line Crisis Center, whose phone lines operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Also available to provide shelter and hot food are the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley in Youngstown and the Warren Family Mission in Warren.

The Youngstown Rescue Mission residence center, which is open 24/7 and offers beds and meals for men, women and children, is at 962 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

The Youngstown Rescue Mission offers three full meals every day served free of charge to anyone in need and provides short-term overnight stays for singles, couples and full families. The phone number is 330-744-5486.

The Warren Family Mission has several locations that offer shelter and meals. They are 361 Elm Road NE, 2671 Youngstown Road SE, 1228 W. Market St. and 1050 Tod Ave. SW. Call 330-469-9107 for all.

The Salvation Army of Mahoning County, 1501 Glenwood Ave., has opened its doors from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Friday or until the lower temperatures abate to provide a warming center for anyone seeking relief from the dangerous cold.

Also, hot meals will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and hot coffee and hot chocolate will be provided throughout the day.

“We want to provide a safe environment for those who want a place to stay during the day,” said Maj. Elijah Kahn, Salvation Army Mahoning County Area Services Coordinator. For information, call 330-270-5999.
