5 Valley residents named President's award recipients

YOUNGSTOWN

Five Mahoning Valley residents are recipients of the President’s Volunteer Service Award for 2014.

Nominated for the award by A Way With Words Foundation and chosen for the honor by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation, the award recipients are:

• Anthony Spano, founder and volunteer executive director of The Hope Foundation of the Mahoning Valley.

• Rachell Joy, a part-time graphic designer at YSU.

• Madonna Chism Pinkard, director of community relations for WFMJ/WBCB Television Inc.

• Kelly Stevens and A.C. McCullough, weekday on-air personalities who work together at WHOT-FM (101.1 FM, “Hot 101”) radio.

The President’s Council created the award program as a way to thank and honor Americans who, by commitment and example, inspire others to engage in volunteer service.

The awards will be presented by A Way With Words Foundation Inc. during a ceremony at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Newport Library Meeting Room, 3730 Market St. in Youngstown, said Brenda Rider, founder of A Way With Words Foundation, which was a 2010 recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award.
