Shots fired, no injuries at attempted robbery at Hi C Market

YOUNGSTOWN — Police say the owner of the Hi C Market, 910 High St., exchanged gunfire about 7:55 p.m. Tuesday with a pair of men who tried to rob the South Side store.

According to police reports, two men, at least one of them wearing a mask, came into the store and one brandished a gun. The owner then grabbed a .38-caliber revolver he had and shot at both men.

One of the men returned fire with a gun of his own but missed before both men ran away.

Officers found two spent .380-caliber shell casings inside the store and bullet holes in the counter, behind the counter and in a dairy case, reports said.
