Salvation Army provides warming center

YOUNGSTOWN

The Salvation Army of Mahoning County, 1501 Glenwood Ave., open its doors from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today, Thursday and Friday to provide a warming center for anyone seeking relief from the frigid temperatures and a place to stay out of the dangerous weather. Also, hot meals will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and hot coffee and hot chocolate will be provided throughout the day.

“We’ll continue to monitor the weather forecast and keep our doors open as a warming center as long as these frigid temperatures linger in our service area. These extremely low temperatures can be dangerous especially for those outdoors. We want to provide a safe environment for those who want a place to stay during the day”, said Major Elijah Kahn, Salvation Army Mahoning County Area Services Coordinator.
