Man dies in fire at home; firefighter injured

HEBRON, Ohio (AP) — A man has died and a firefighter was injured after a fire at a home in central Ohio.

Hebron firefighter Chris Clancy says the Tuesday night blaze heavily damaged a home in Union Township in Licking County. A neighbor reported the fire around 10 p.m.

Clancy says the man who died was the only person in the home at the time and was found near a window at the front of the one-story frame house. Clancy said the man’s name and age were being withheld until relatives could be notified.

Clancy says a firefighter suffered a broken leg after apparently slipping on ice at the scene. He was treated and released from a hospital.

Investigators with the state fire marshal’s office are trying to determine what caused the fire.
