FOOD SALES AND DINNERS


TODAY

Holy Family Parish, 2729 Center Road, Poland, will sell takeout cavatelli dinners from 3 to 6:30 p.m. or until sold out. Meals include two meatballs, tossed salad, bread and butter and two cookies for $9. A smaller portion of cavatelli and one meatball is $5. Homemade pasta fagioli will be $6 per quart, and homemade pasta sauce will be $5 per quart. Place your order and remain in your car; your dinner will be delivered to you.

THURSDAY

Col. Louis J. Campbell VFW Post 3538, 157 Lowellville Road, Struthers, will serve spaghetti dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. Meals will include meatballs, salad, bread and butter, and coffee. Cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children under 8. Carryout orders are $7.50 and will be available only until 6 p.m. Containers will be provided.

VFW Triangle Post 2799 will serve spaghetti dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. at the post, 3161 E. South Range Road, New Springfield. Prices are $7 for adults, $3.50 for children under 12 and $7.25 for carryout. The menu includes meatballs, salad, Italian bread, and coffee or tea.

FRIDAY

Canfield Lions Club will have a fish fry from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St., Canfield. Meals include a choice of baked or fried fish; french fries, macaroni and cheese, pirogi or haluski; and coleslaw, green beans, roll, dessert and beverage. The cost is $11.

Christ the Good Shepherd at St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will sell potato, prune and kraut pirogi for $6 per dozen. Phone orders may be made beginning at 8 a.m. at 330-755-1316, and orders can be picked up starting at noon. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers. No walk-in orders will be available.

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at 330-792-1005.

St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main St., New Middletown, will sell potato, sweet cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi for $5.50 a dozen. Orders can be called to 330-542-3525 from 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Walk-ins are welcome.

St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, sells potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi on Fridays. Advance orders will be taken at 330-747-3024 from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $6 per dozen. Pirogi lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Walk-in orders are welcome.

SATURDAY

Fowler United Methodist Church, 3426 Youngstown-Kingsville Road, will sell chicken pie dinners from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Meals include potato, green beans, applesauce, coleslaw, bread, dessert and beverage. Prices are $9 for adults, $4 for children 6 to 12 and free for preschoolers. Takeouts will be available.

Smith Corners United Methodist Church, 3000 S. Canfield-Niles Road, at the corner of Kirk Road and state Route 46, Austintown, will serve free pancake, sausage and egg breakfasts from 9 to 11:30 a.m. The church is handicap accessible. Donations will be accepted for World Service Projects.

Vienna United Methodist Church, 4265 Warren-Sharon Road, Vienna, will serve Swiss steak dinners from 4 to 6 p.m. Meals include mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, coleslaw, applesauce, bread, beverage and homemade dessert. Takeouts will be available. Prices are $9 for adults, $5 for children 5 to 12 and free for kids 4 and under. The church is handicap accessible.

SUNDAY

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica Church on Via Mount Carmel will sponsor a spaghetti dinner from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the church hall. Cost is $7.50 for adults and $5 for children. All carryouts are $7.50; containers are 75 cents or you can provide your own.

St. James the Apostle Church, 4019 Route 422, Pulaski, Pa., will host a breakfast-brunch from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The prices are $8 for adults and $4 for children. The meal features french toast, sweet cheese filling, buttermilk and buckwheat pancakes with maple or apple syrup, scrambled eggs, eggs scrambled with peppers, onions and cheese, home fries, bacon, sausage, ham, toast, cinnamon rolls, hot and cold cereals coffee, tea, juices and milk.

VFW Triangle Post 2799 Ladies Auxiliary, 3161 E. South Range Road, New Springfield, will serve breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon. The home-style breakfast menu consists of eggs, hash browns, sausage or ham, pancakes or freedom toast, toast and coffee or tea. The prices are $6 for adults and $3.50 for children under 12.

TUESDAY

Columbiana First United Methodist Church, 210 S. Main St., Columbiana, will have a drive-through ham dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. or until sold out. The meal comprises sliced ham, red-skin parsley potatoes, green beans, applesauce and a brownie. A $7 donation is requested.

TAKING ORDERS

First Presbyterian Church of Girard will be selling 15-inch homemade pepperoni rolls for $8 each, potato soup and chicken noodle soup for $5 a quart and $3 a pint, and fresh-baked bread for $2 a large loaf and $1.50 a small loaf. Orders can be placed by calling 330-647-7515. Orders must be received by Jan. 15. Pickup will be at the church, 890 Church Hill Road in Girard, between 3 and 4:30 Jan. 17.

Holy Family Parish is offering homemade stuffed pepper or chicken tortellini soup for sale at $8.50 per quart. Orders will be taken with payment at the parish office, 2729 Center Road, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The order deadline is Monday. Pick up at the parish center from 8 a.m. to noon Jan. 18.

UPCOMING

Smith Corners United Methodist Church, 3000 S. Canfield-Niles Road, at the corner of Kirk Road and state Route 46, Austintown, will serve a free supper from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Jan. 15 as a community outreach. It is open to all each month. Donations will be accepted to continue the program.
