Copper theft probed in Austintown


AUSTINTOWN

One hundred feet of heavy copper was stolen from a township company.

An unknown person or persons gained access to a building of Fisher Bord, a moving company based on Connecticut Avenue, between 11:59 p.m. Dec. 31 and 8 a.m. Jan. 2. The report was made to police 12:42 p.m. Tuesday.

Once inside, person or persons cut approximately 100 feet of heavy copper electrical line. The owner of the business told police he saw a blanket with cable in black conduit lying underneath an abandoned semi trailer Tuesday morning. When he went back to the cable an hour later, it was gone.

The police report noted that there were no noticeable tire tracks or footprints in the snow near where the blanket had been. The owner had told police there were tire tracks.
