Antonine Sisters have open house for new facility

The Antonine Sisters will have an open house for its $9 million assisted-living and memory-care center on Lipkey Road in North Jackson from 1 to 5 p.m. Jan. 18.
NORTH JACKSON
The Antonine Sisters in North Jackson say they continue to meet the needs of the elderly in the Mahoning Valley.
The seven-member community of Maronite Catholic religious women soon will see the completion of Antonine Village, 2675 N. Lipkey Road, a new $9 million assisted-living and memory-care center that will complement their adult day care facility.
“The purpose of the facility is to keep them active mentally and physically,” said Sister Marie Madeleine Iskandar, local superior of the Sisters.
Built around a secure courtyard, the new campus includes 55 apartments.
Ten of the apartments are for independent-living residents who receive some help such as housekeeping.
There are 24 rooms for assisted living, and 21 rooms for memory-care residents who require complete care.
Sister Marie said the new facility comes with plenty of space, based on prior experience.
“We see the need of the people,” she said.
The new Antonine Village provides 24-hour medical care, three prepared meals a day, housekeeping and laundry services and social activities.
Religious service and pastoral care will be available as well.
“It’s a more spiritual environment,” Sister Marie said.
K. Anthony Hayek of MS Consultants was the architect on the project, and B&B Construction of Youngstown was the general contractor.
The project started in October 2013.
The Antonine Sisters, an international order, are based in Lebanon in the Middle East.
The sisters in North Jackson secured $2.75 million from Consumer National Bank of Minerva with the remainder from Lebanon-based Byblos Bank.
The sisters will have an open house from 1 to 5 p.m. Jan. 18 when the facility is mostly completed.
“It should mean a lot for the Valley,” Sister Marie said.
