BOARDMAN

A new addition at Tiffany Square is open for business.

Hobby Lobby Stores Inc. had the grand opening for its new location, 1136 Boardman-Poland Road, in the plaza Monday.

The craft-store chain, based in Oklahoma City, relocated from 472 Boardman-Canfield Road.

“We’re excited to be in the area,” Mark Haun, district manager said. “I think we’re going to be closer to the main shopping area.” Tiffany Square is next to the busiest intersection in Mahoning County, with access to U.S. Route 224 and South Avenue.

“We’re looking forward to being a part of the community,” said Brian Sokol, the general manager of the 55,000-square-foot store.

The store has 45 employees, both regular and seasonal. Sokol said he expects to hire six to 10 more people.

Gina Yarab of Boardman was among the first customers to shop at the store’s grand opening.

“It’s a little further away, but they’ll do better business,” Yarab said while checking out the new store. “They have nicer things, and a bigger selection.”

Hobby Lobby has more than 600 stores across the nation. It joins Fin, Feather and Fur Outfitters, the outdoor-supplies store that opened in April at the plaza. Sokol said Hobby Lobby is excited “to be a part of the new development.”

“We’re happy to have a brand-new store,” he said.
