One man is dead after a motorcycle accident early Saturday on East Washington Street. Paul Yasher, 53, of New Castle lost control of his motorcycle shortly after midnight while he was traveling southbound on East Washington where it intersects with Chestnut Street, Pennsylvania State Police said. Police said Yasher drove off the roadway, struck a curb, then a telephone pole. Vindicator broadcast partner, 21 WFMJ-TV, reported that the accident occurred after Yasher led police on a chase through downtown New Castle. No information was available about the reason for the chase.

A Texas man faces multiple charges stemming from an incident early Saturday when, police say, he pulled a gun on officers. According to Vindicator broadcast partner, 21 WFMJ-TV, Pennsylvania State Police responded to a car accident about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, where they found Jed Frazier, 25, in a ditch after his truck rolled over. Frazier reportedly pulled a gun out of his pocket and pointed it at officers when they tried to get him out of the vehicle. Police said they got him out about 3 a.m. Frazier was treated for minor injuries, then taken to the Lawrence County Jail. Police said he was arraigned Saturday on charges of aggravated assault, carrying firearms without a license, driving while intoxicated, simple assault, reckless endangering and resisting arrest and is jailed on $10,000 bond.

The Bryn Mawr (East Side) Block Watch will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday at McGuffey Centre, 1649 Jacobs Road. Guest speakers will be from the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp.
