Devareaux Manley made five 3-pointers, Jimmy Hall had 10 rebounds and each scored 19 points as Kent State beat Texas-Pan American. Kris Brewer added 10 points for Kent State (9-4), which took its largest lead at 72-45, capping a 17-5 run on Hall’s tip-in with 6:36 to play. The Golden Flashes jumped to a double-digit lead in the first eight minutes and led by 17 before going into halftime with a 40-25 lead. Pan American (5-9) got no closer than 14 in the second half. Janari Joesaar finished with 27 points with 6-of-9 3-point shooting and nine rebounds for the Broncs. He had 19 of the Broncs’ 25 first-half points, shooting 7 for 11 while the rest of the team went 3 for 15.
Cleveland State 84, Milwaukee 57
CLEVELAND
Trey Lewis poured in 27 points and Cleveland State pulled away in the second half to defeat Milwaukee in the Horizon League opener for both teams. The Vikings (7-8, 1-0) trailed by three at the half, but stormed away in the final 13:41, closing the game on a 42-14 run. Lewis scored 20 of his points in the second half and provided two jumpers, a 3-pointer, four free throws and a layup during the decisive surge. Cleveland State shot a torrid 82.1 percent from the field and scored 57 points in the second half, matching Milwaukee’s total for the game.
Wright State 70, Detroit 57

JT Yoho had 18 points and eight rebounds and Wright State pulled away in the Horizon League opener for both teams. Yoho’s layup midway through the second half sparked a 9-0 run to put the Raiders (9-6, 1-0) up 55-40. Detroit (6-9, 0-1) answered with eight straight points to get within seven but got no closer. Michael Karena added 14 points and Joe Thomasson had 10 points and nine rebounds for Wright State. Juwan Howard Jr. led the Titans with 15 points.
Oakland 89, Valparaiso 75, OT
ROCHESTER, MICH.
Kahlil Felder scored a career-high 32 points, including 11 in overtime, and Oakland put away Valparaiso in the Horizon League opener for both teams. Felder went 19 of 24 on free throws, grabbed six rebounds and dished out five assists. Jalen Hayes had 16 points with eight boards and Nick Daniels chipped in 14 points for the Golden Grizzlies (5-10, 1-0). Tevonn Walker led the Crusaders (13-3, 0-1) with 22 points and Keith Carter added 18.
WOMEN
No. 1 South Carolina 77, Auburn 58

Aleighsa Welch scored 12 points before leaving with a neck sprain. Welch helped the Gamecocks (13-0) build a 20-point lead before she hit hard again a basket post and remained down for several minutes. She walked off under her own power and went to the hospital for X-rays. With the senior gone, Auburn cut the lead to 48-40 on Hasina Muhammad’s basket with 11:42 left. That’s when the Gamecocks answered with a 12-2 run.
No. 4 Notre Dame 74, Florida State 68
SOUTH BEND, IND.
Jewell Loyd scored 20 points and Notre Dame beat Florida State. Lindsay Allen had 18 points and Brianna Turner scored 12 of her 14 in the second half to help the Irish (13-1) extend their winning streak to 37 straight conference games dating to 2012 when they were in the Big East. Shakayla Thomas scored 18 points to lead Florida State (13-2).
No. 5 Texas A&M 75, Vanderbilt 61

Courtney Williams had 22 points and Courtney Walker added 17 to help Texas A&M open Southeastern Conference play. Heather Bowe led Vanderbilt (8-5) with 16 points.
No. 7 Louisville 75, Georgia Tech 48
LOUISVILLE, KY.
Mariya Moore tied her career high with 22 points for Louisville. Moore was 9 of 12 from the field and had eight assists for the Cardinals (13-1). Aaliyah Whiteside led Georgia Tech (10-5) with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
No. 9 North Carolina 95, E. Tennessee State 62
CHAPEL HILL, N.C.
Stephanie Mavunga scored a career-high 26 points to lead North Carolina past East Tennessee State. Mavunga was 13 of 14 from the floor and the Tar Heels (13-1) shot a season-best 57 percent.
