WARREN

Bond of $25,000 was set Friday in Warren Municipal Court for Justin Del Cruz, 20, of Woodview Avenue Southwest, charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and accused of pointing a shotgun at a Warren police officer late New Year’s Eve.

Del Cruz pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges of aggravated menacing and discharging firearms in the city limits, and Judge Terry Ivanchak added another $7,500 bond for those charges.

Anthony Scott, 20, of Logan Avenue Southeast pleaded not guilty to obstructing official business in connection with the same incident. Bond of $2,500 was set for him.

Police said they were called to Logan Avenue near South Street for shots fired at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, and an officer saw Del Cruz fire a shotgun in the air multiple times.

When the officer yelled at Del Cruz and two other men nearby, “Police! Get on the ground!” Del Cruz momentarily pointed the shotgun at the officer, then he and Scott ran away.

Del Cruz later gave himself up to police, and Scott was found hiding in the home’s basement.
